Heat Wave

Wow, it's hot. Yesterday it reached 102 degrees in Salt Lake! Today I asked Mike if today was suppose to be the Hottest for the week. "It's got to be the hottest day today!" So i checked it out and it's only 93 degrees. Yesterday was NINE degrees hotter! Man, my temps are all screwed up!

Visiting Cascia and Steve

We haven't seen Cascia and Steven P. Lutes in a year and we finally got to see them in Provo last month. We met at Cascia's bro's apartment and had some pizza and COKE while watching the bachelorette. The boys played SO well together. Porter and Sawyer are nine months apart, which seemed so far apart when they were babes, but now they are just good ol' fashion buds. Porter even introduced Sawyer to the underwear mask, and much to Cascia's dismay let him borrow an extra pair for the evening.

Even Spiderman Has To Sleep

Yesterday Mike was on the computer and I was reading and Porter was playing spiderman. He came over and gave me a little snuggle. After two minutes of snuggling my legs, he was OUT.

Only 4 Weeks Left

YESS!!! We have made it to the final countdown! I'm thrilled! The past four days I have felt great! I mean, of course uncomfortable, but last month seems like every day was impossibly uncomfortable. Maybe the womb finally grew big enough for this kid to fit. I hope the remainder of this time is spent semi-comfortably.

Dr. Update:
I went to Dr. Sumsion on Wednesday, July 15th.

The nurse said we are going to check this and that...and then she said "and schedule your induction" and I said "What?" thinking she had me and another patient confused. I said, "for me? you know I've got four weeks left, right?" She said she knows but that they still like to get them scheduled. And I said "oh, well, I don't want to be induced." and she said "well, he likes to schedule them between 39 weeks and no farther than a couple of days past your due date." and I was like...ok (I'm not gonna do that) and never brought it up to the doc and he never said anything, so I am just gonna try to go on my own, none of this scheduling nonsense.

Anyway, the update is great. I am dilated 1-1.5! I don't think I dilated till much later with Porter, so I am thrilled to see the first sign that the end is near.

The pee trips are becoming more and more frequent.
Sleeping has been a real chore.
It's incredibly hot in our house, No AC except the swamp cooler in Porter's room, which usually does a fine job of cooling us off. But I feel bad having it on at night because Porter would get so cold. We tried it last night and I went to check on Port during a routine potty break and he was FREEZING. So I turned it off.

I am moody. Sometimes I just turn into a bad mood...thinking to myself "why am I so grouchy?" and there Isn't a reason in the world....i just am. As a matter of fact, Sunday I woke up in a fine mood, but by the time I had gotten to church, I was in no mood to interact with people and be normal, so I just went home. Maybe I just needed those couple of hours to be alone, because I was just fine after. (Or maybe I subconsciously wanted to skip church. :)

Spiderman Song

As we all know Porter thinks he is Spiderman and Mike thinks he's a rockstar. If you combine the two you get this cute little tune.

$25 Van

In June we were able to score this bad boy from Mike's Sis JoAnn, and her husband, Mike. JoAnn's husband got her a new ride for mother's day and they had this extra piece of machinery laying around. (i doubt it was really just laying around) but they offered to let us have it. After hours and hours of haggling. We were able to talk them down to 25 dollars! :) just kidding, it was all out of the kindness of their hearts! We LOVE it. It is way less noisy than the Ford Focus, the windows roll down, the air conditioning works, it doesn't fill the car with smoke when you use the breaks. I was driving the truck around and, for a pregnant woman with a three year old to buckle in, it's a dream come true. I don't care that the van is a mormon-mom-mobile! It's so practical and...$25!

Earwigs

Well, this is what we have been living with. Since it rained most of June, they are coming out for reunions in our whole house. They usually come around in the summer time, mostly in the basement. But this year they are a nightmare. We had our room and Porter's room and the baby's crib in the unfinished basement for about 2 months, since the girls moved. But since these little critters have been taking over our lives and I found one crawling out of my pillow, I decided it wasn't worth it. So we moved our room back to the living room and Porter and the baby are in the one bedroom. It's much better. We got the house sprayed last week, but I am still finding the little buddies on the fridge, on our fruit, crawling out of cabinets, on the doorknobs and even in the sheets. And THAT is all UPSTAIRS, where it's "not that bad". It's driving me crazy. For the last month my dreams have basically consisted of Dramatized Labor and Dramatized Earwigs. Some of you know that I am GROSSED out by critters....and usually trap them under a cup until mike gets home to take care of it. But since I've had Porter, I've had to get a little more brave and kill it myself and now that Porter is 3-He'll just take care of it for me. It's been an interesting evolution of pest control around here.
