Enter Our Home

The Living room.. still some work to be done, pillows and pictures but it's pretty much done.

This thing we got for a couple bucks at DI, painted it and these old frames.

This is Mike's pride and joy since. He begged to have this painting in our house again. If you'll remember in Syracuse this was yellow, red, brown and green. you could see the pencil marks and he always insisted we keep it up. I gave him a shot to redo the painting with new colors and no pencil marks and he really pulled through. I love it now.

This is where our family picture will be and that blue desk we got for $4 at the auction I told you about. More decor to come...

The view when you walk into the house...there is the other item from the auction...$3 Rocking Chair.

Kitchen

wala...this is our kitchen.
This is the cutest rooster painting compliments of my mom.
This is where we eat fruit and stare at fruit. Paintings courtesy of my mom as well...isn't she a lovely artist?

Mer's Room

Mer has joined the adventure here in Kirksville. She started her Jr. year a couple of weeks ago and she even is enjoying good ol' 6:30am seminary. I am so glad she is here. I love having her cute sense of humor and she has been really helpful with the boys and the cleaning and the keeping Jenn company.

Her room is still a work in progress. Her furniture got all scuffed in the move, so we need to add some paint to it. We are also looking for the perfect desk. We have been looking for weeks and just can't find one for just the right price with just the right pizazz. After we find the desk, we will add some of her drawings to the wall.

Isn't she the cutest? She makes her cute bed every morning. Whenever I see it, i get a little grin.

The Boys Room

Stupid Blogger, I can never figure out how to put pictures in the right order...anyway...

I had these blankets made by the QUILTED HEN in Vernal. I found this perfect vintage fabric online and backed it with brown minky. JENNIFER from the Quilted Hen is one of the sweetest ladies! I love her! Support her store whenever you can, it's darling!

Mike's sis, Jen Ben took the fabric into Jennifer for us (because I was already in Missouri). I guess they got to talking and Jen Ben told her we were on our way to Medical School and she just put them together for 100% FREE! "Pay it Forward" was the only message she sent. I love these blankets and now they will be even more special to our family!

The room as it is now...nothing is hung up yet, we are still painting and unpacking this stuff, but it's clean and functions nicely. Porter LOVES having a bunk bed.

We Made It

I know you have been missing my posts. I have too. I am so glad to be nearly settled in a home and almost unpacked and actually back to keeping up with the internet world. I haven't been on facebook since April and I obviously haven't really kept up on the blog all summer. I have gotten lots of texts and phone calls wondering how we are doing and all the little details about our lives. I will now update you...
Missouri is great!

We live in a cute, tiny ol' town. There are lots of old buildings and cute ol' folks that wave at you whether you are running, walking, mowing, or stealing a bike. There is a garage sale every day. At orientation they announced that this is the garage sale capital of the U.S.--You know that's our kinda town. We stopped by an auction the other day and got two antiques for a total $7.

We have mainly just been moving in for the last three weeks. It takes so much more time than I would ever like to invest and I don't ever wanna move again. I feel like I should already start preparing for the next move in two years.

Mike started school last Monday and it seemed like a pretty lonely week. I miss our friends. I miss being able to go to aerobics in the mornings, lunch at the park and playing games with our friends in the evenings. There isn't TV here either so I just have felt OUT OF TOUCH with everything. As excited as I am to have a house and to have my stuff put away and to have FINALLY gotten to medical school, I just had an overwhelming emptiness. I realized I just need to jump in and get this party started. So Friday I went to the schools' gym where I heard the moms workout...I found them and got all set up for a little deal that goes something like this: You get one day a week to babysit and the other four days you leave your kids and workout. It's soundin' like I pretty sweet gig to me and I hope to make some buddies for the boys and I.

Mike has been making fun of me for organizing the crap out of our lives. I gave everyone in the house- rules, chores, and schedules for every day of their lives. There's nothing like a good healthy schedule to get ya going. Tomorrow is Monday and that's when our new lives begin.
