Porter's Preschool

Picture of Porter at the picnic...i just noticed he's with all the ladies. I don't know how i feel about that.

I haven't updated hardly anything since we've been here, and I want to remember so many of the fun times we are having here in Kville. We think it rocks here! The fall season is upon us and it is our FAVORITE time of the year. We love to soak it up before winter cramps our style.

Porter is so lucky to be in such a good preschool this year. They had a little get to know you party at the park a couple of weeks ago. I really LOVE his school! It's so family oriented. I actually know his teachers and they know me. It's a great place and I appreciate those sweet gals at the school. I have already learned so much from them....(they have no clue).

Monday Porter came home talking about some wedding thing they were doing at the school during lunch. I didn't understand what the heck he was talking about. Then Tuesday morning he told me to come have lunch with him and not to forget. * school provides breakfast and lunch for the kiddos which is awesomeness because I don't have to think of it, buy it, make it or clean it up for four days a week! I am a huge fan! Mike had a little break from class so he studied while andrew napped and I got to go to Porter's class. When I arrived, I was so happy to hear that Porter thought of this as a date. We had our own little table where porter poured our milk and served our food all by himself. He also cleaned up after us (which made me realize how much he could be doing at home...I feel used). Porter introduced me to all of his friends in his class. They were so cute. Some of them hugged me and wanted to sit by me...I came home with an extra boosted self esteem. Those kids sure are sweet. This made me love Porter's school even more...

Anyway, I THINK that Porter said it was a wedding at lunch because last weekend we went to Kansas City for my cousin PJs adorable wedding. I only took Mer and Porter and it was SUCH a wonderful time to be with my little guy! During the wedding he was my "date". That's the only thing I can think of that makes lunch at preschool anything like a wedding.

Speaking of the wedding. Porter kept telling me I'm "the best mom ever." He covered his eyes as well as mine when Debbie and PJ kissed. He danced and cried and enjoyed himself very much. No pics because....well, i'm lazy and left my camera in the car which was too far to go and fetch in those dang shoes.

Enter Our Home

The Living room.. still some work to be done, pillows and pictures but it's pretty much done.

This thing we got for a couple bucks at DI, painted it and these old frames.

This is Mike's pride and joy since. He begged to have this painting in our house again. If you'll remember in Syracuse this was yellow, red, brown and green. you could see the pencil marks and he always insisted we keep it up. I gave him a shot to redo the painting with new colors and no pencil marks and he really pulled through. I love it now.

This is where our family picture will be and that blue desk we got for $4 at the auction I told you about. More decor to come...

The view when you walk into the house...there is the other item from the auction...$3 Rocking Chair.
Our House...

Kitchen

wala...this is our kitchen.
This is the cutest rooster painting compliments of my mom.
This is where we eat fruit and stare at fruit. Paintings courtesy of my mom as well...isn't she a lovely artist?

Mer's Room

Mer has joined the adventure here in Kirksville. She started her Jr. year a couple of weeks ago and she even is enjoying good ol' 6:30am seminary. I am so glad she is here. I love having her cute sense of humor and she has been really helpful with the boys and the cleaning and the keeping Jenn company.

Her room is still a work in progress. Her furniture got all scuffed in the move, so we need to add some paint to it. We are also looking for the perfect desk. We have been looking for weeks and just can't find one for just the right price with just the right pizazz. After we find the desk, we will add some of her drawings to the wall.

Isn't she the cutest? She makes her cute bed every morning. Whenever I see it, i get a little grin.

The Boys Room

Stupid Blogger, I can never figure out how to put pictures in the right order...anyway...

I had these blankets made by the QUILTED HEN in Vernal. I found this perfect vintage fabric online and backed it with brown minky. JENNIFER from the Quilted Hen is one of the sweetest ladies! I love her! Support her store whenever you can, it's darling!

Mike's sis, Jen Ben took the fabric into Jennifer for us (because I was already in Missouri). I guess they got to talking and Jen Ben told her we were on our way to Medical School and she just put them together for 100% FREE! "Pay it Forward" was the only message she sent. I love these blankets and now they will be even more special to our family!

The room as it is now...nothing is hung up yet, we are still painting and unpacking this stuff, but it's clean and functions nicely. Porter LOVES having a bunk bed.

We Made It

I know you have been missing my posts. I have too. I am so glad to be nearly settled in a home and almost unpacked and actually back to keeping up with the internet world. I haven't been on facebook since April and I obviously haven't really kept up on the blog all summer. I have gotten lots of texts and phone calls wondering how we are doing and all the little details about our lives. I will now update you...
Missouri is great!

We live in a cute, tiny ol' town. There are lots of old buildings and cute ol' folks that wave at you whether you are running, walking, mowing, or stealing a bike. There is a garage sale every day. At orientation they announced that this is the garage sale capital of the U.S.--You know that's our kinda town. We stopped by an auction the other day and got two antiques for a total $7.

We have mainly just been moving in for the last three weeks. It takes so much more time than I would ever like to invest and I don't ever wanna move again. I feel like I should already start preparing for the next move in two years.

Mike started school last Monday and it seemed like a pretty lonely week. I miss our friends. I miss being able to go to aerobics in the mornings, lunch at the park and playing games with our friends in the evenings. There isn't TV here either so I just have felt OUT OF TOUCH with everything. As excited as I am to have a house and to have my stuff put away and to have FINALLY gotten to medical school, I just had an overwhelming emptiness. I realized I just need to jump in and get this party started. So Friday I went to the schools' gym where I heard the moms workout...I found them and got all set up for a little deal that goes something like this: You get one day a week to babysit and the other four days you leave your kids and workout. It's soundin' like I pretty sweet gig to me and I hope to make some buddies for the boys and I.

Mike has been making fun of me for organizing the crap out of our lives. I gave everyone in the house- rules, chores, and schedules for every day of their lives. There's nothing like a good healthy schedule to get ya going. Tomorrow is Monday and that's when our new lives begin.

May1st 5k and an Update

We are back online! Whew. It was a long break and I have a lot of catching up to do. But the move was successful. The boys are having a great time here, and so are mike and I to tell the truth. The weather could be a little better...am I right?

But we are having lots of fun! Mike already did a triathlon here and got 7th overall, and we just ran a 5k this weekend and he got 7th overall for that. Mike ran his guts out and I ran my guts out pushing the two boys in the stroller. Man, that's a good workout!

Porter and "ena" before the race. We used this pic on our mother's day card this year. It's nothing professional, but at least I got a mother's day card out, right?

Mike and G Force before the race.

Andrew all bundled up in the stroller.

I made Porter a medal for his race. It says "run, walk, stroll" on it. "5k triathalon" he did A LOT of strolling but he ran for the last tenth of a mile to the finish line. He thought he won. So I had a guy announce that he was the winner and present this medal to him. He BRAGGED all weekend about beating us cause we were too slow.

I can't help but kiss him non-stop. Gotta get those in before he won't let me anymore.

Porter is a riot! He talks NON STOP about EVERYTHING you could think of and if you're not busy doing other things, it's really funny stuff. It can be pretty annoying though, when you're trying to pay the bills or push a 60 lb stroller up a hill. :) We love this guy, he is great!

Andrew is crawling around army style. He wants to walk and do everything his brother does. He doesn't want baby food. He wants food from our plates. One time I put formula in MY cup and his sippy cup and he would only want it if I gave it to him from my cup.

Life is great here in V-Town. Three months left till the big move. We miss all of our friends dearly!
